We met “by Giulia Donati” brand at the fair. It was a casual encounter, from all points of view. We were “cooked” and we were earning the exit, to return home, when we were struck by his objects from the “toshape” collection and by the kindness and sympathy of the designer, Giulia Donati. “Born creative, became an architect. My great curiosity, since I was a child, encouraged me to search limits of things and I continued to do it even as an adult. I like to discover the limits of a material and, start from those, to create something new. (To shape – verb: to make something into a particular shape) TOSHAPE takes its cue from an ancient human’s characteristic: giving shape and function to materials. Curiosity, experimentation and the desire to overcome the limits, even the material ones, creates unique and unrepeatable forms. The forms themselves suggest, to everyone of us, the function that the object will take.
Each object is handmade with care and attention in Italy; this makes it exclusive and timeless. An indissoluble fusion between tradition and innovation, between chance and manual skills, between the craftsmanship of the weave and the use of a modern material. All the forms from TOSPHAPE are made of SSM (Solid Surface Material), an extraordinary artificial material obtained from the combination of natural minerals and acrylic polymers”.
